Up-cycled Feed Bags to Totes - $5/ea

Reusable bags/totes and chicks just for fun
A couple of years ago I created a simply designed tote to up-cycle feed bags.  It's not a unique idea, but unlike most others that add additional cloth materials for liners my simple design was intended to use only the raw materials from the bag itself to create a durable practical tote.  Initially I collected used bags from several barns and solicited craigslist for anyone that had some to offer.  I sold the bags at $5/ea and had several bulk orders of 10-20 for people that were using them for Christmas gift stuff sacks.  Making them is a lot of work taking about 30-40 minute to complete a bag, hardly worth the labor selling them at $5 a pop. You first have to clean them, then cut the body, floor and handles, then sew it all together.  The real reward is keeping the bag out of the waste stream making it useful for other things.  We kept a number of bags and use them routinely for grocery shopping and they easily hold 25 lbs of goods.  We also use them for quick storage of clothes and anything else that will fit.

Now that we'll have a steady supply of feed bags we'll gladly make them on demand and will likely have some on hand at any time.  Just let us know you'd like some and we'll get them to you.

 Leather Works

Don't be surprised to find some finished leather products here, hand-tooled and crafted right on the farm.  Jody has a heated shop with a nice workbench that will help him turn his hobby of  leather craft into creating some quality leather goods, that is when he's not fishing.
